ncRNAs have been identified in pain-related regions in the human nervous system and, following nerve injury in humans, there are highly significant correlations between the abundance of miR-29a and miR-500a in human lingual nerve neuromas and the pain VAS score [ 100 ], which suggests a potential contribution of specific miRNAs to the development of chronic neuropathic pain.
