[ 2 ] Although several previous studies in the study region found an increasing trend in the prevalence of hypertension (e.g., 14.0% in 1991 to 34.1% in 2015 in China, [ 4 ] 23.0% in 1991/1994 to 42.2% in 2010/2012 in urban India, [ 19 ] 32.9% in 1996 to 43.5% in 2011 in Malaysia [ 20 ] ), this study found a decreasing trend in hypertension prevalence.
