We estimated the number of IHCs in cochlear specimens and found that Cx30 ΔΔ animals showed a decreasing trend in all cochlear turns, although the difference between Cx30 ΔΔ and Cx30 WT was not significant ( Figure 2H ), suggesting that aging could be the dominant factor determining IHC damage.
