Although there was no strong association between positive viral test results and antibiotic prescribing, we observed a favorable trend in higher antiviral utilization in the presence of a positive influenza test result (32.5%) compared with patients who tested positive for any non-influenza virus (3.6%) or negative for all viruses (9.0%).
