The Mean reduction in palatal gap in the two-stage group was 4.95 mm while the reduction of palatal gap in the single-stage group was 2.07 mm and none of the patients had a reduction of more than 3.5 mm, they found that palatal gap reduction in the two-stage group was highly significant.
