Less expected was that we see little or no genetic differentiation between islands, with only a weak trend for greater genetic differentiation between villages on different islands than villages on the same island, albeit this is a larger effect than either the distance between villages or the size of village populations, perhaps suggesting that snail vector movement around the coasts of islands may play a role in parasite movement.
