An overall trend for lower LBRs associated with OTC may be attributed to the impaired folliculogenesis observed, causing disruption between the granulosa cells and oocytes, subsequently resulting in reduced oocyte maturity, poor fertilization rates and inadequate embryo quality ( Dolmans et al. , 2009 ).
