When analyzing independently each population some differences were observed compared to the observed behavior on the total population: in infants receiving infant formula the effect of age on stearic and palmitic acids was not evident while an increasing trend was observed for 2-methyl-3-hydroxy-butiric, methylsuccinic and adipic acids ( Figure 2 e-f, supplementary Table 5 – Figure S3B).
