Additionally, a decreasing trend was observed in the number of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol particles. 67 In an RCT of eight prediabetic men with obesity, five weeks of IF increased insulin sensitivity and islet β-cell reactivity and decreased insulin level, blood pressure, and oxidative stress, although there were no significant changes in body weight or fasting and postprandial blood glucose. 68 Collectively, these findings indicate that although IF has benefits for patients with prediabetes and prehypertension, there is insufficient supporting evidence from large samples of different patient populations.
