It was also noted that for HGB values, a positive correlation was highly significant (p < 0.001) at high parasite thresholds (> 2000 parasites/μL) but not significant at low parasite thresholds (p < 0.1), suggesting a regime in which parasitaemia levels correlate with a drop of HGB at high parasite loads but with the relationship disappearing once the number of parasite in blood lowers as effect of the anti-malarial medication (as it can be seen in Fig. 5 ).
