There may be significant financial savings associated with reducing the number of unnecessary G&S and post‐operative blood tests, and a formal health economic review may be of value in the future. 4.5 Conclusions In summary, our study outlines a means of selecting patients for G&S and post‐operative Hb measurement based on the risk of developing severe post‐operative anaemia.
