Mixtures of N-His-aIF5A and rRNA were analyzed and the results, elaborated and presented in Figure 4 D, show a decreasing trend of the Rg as a function of the increasing protein:RNA ratio. rRNA is a substrate for the protein-cleaving activity, and therefore, we may hypothesize that increasing the amount of protein leads to degradation of most of the RNA molecules.
