After further adjustment for the duration of hypertension, the association with total CVD became weak but remained significant: multivariable HR (95% CI) was 1.23 (1.02–1.48), and the corresponding association with stroke remained borderline significant: 1.26 (0.99–1.60) [Data not shown].
