When considering only urban sites, we still find an increasing trend in fine particulate metal concentration (a 5–11% increase) for a 10% increase in dissimilarity index for the metals associated with anthropogenic sources, suggesting these results are not solely due to urban/rural gradients in segregation (Table S2 ).
