While the interpretation of this result is limited by the lack of stratified randomization on the type of patient level, the impact on new patients remained highly significant after controlling for basic demographics, symptom severity and month of visit fixed effects—factors that have previously been shown to influence attendance rates. 19 , 27 – 29 The lack of information on existing patients’ visit history, specifically whether they had access to a similar service in their previous visits to the PHC center is another limitation.
