Together, this data strongly suggests an overall trend of fluoride-hardened yeast globally increasing acidic components in their cytoplasm and alkaline components in the extracellular space compared to the control. 3.3 Intracellular Acidification Prevents Fluoride Accumulation Collectively, the broad changes in phenotype of fluoride-hardened yeast suggest an overall altered ion gradient.
