Two ceramic vessels found in a megalithic tomb in the Netherlands dated about 5,000 years BP had been decorated using the head of the femur of a long-eared owl, indicating that this species was also familiar, and possibly significant, to other peoples in the Chalcolithic outside Iberia 51 .
