Many studies have shown great HT prevalence in urban compared to rural population.[ 11 ] A meta-analysis showed that the prevalence of HT varies between 4.5 and 45% in rural population, and a higher prevalence (13.9–48.2%) in the urban population, with an increasing trend over time.[ 14 ] Further, increased levels of awareness coupled with increased access to health services in urban areas might have led to higher detection of HT cases in urban population.
