In our findings, a history of diabetes mellitus (OR 1.83, 95% CI 0.88–3.78, P = 0.1), hypertension (OR 1.37, 95% CI 0.82–2.31, P = 0.23) or asthma (OR 1.1, 95% CI 0.68–1.77, P = 0.7) was not significantly associated with infection; however, a trend towards significance was demonstrated with OR greater than one in each case.
