Even after adjustment of the imbalances in the baseline characteristics, the lower risk of the ablation group relative to the conservative group for the primary outcome measure remained highly significant, both in the asymptomatic and symptomatic AF patients (adjusted HR 0.46, 95% CI 0.25–0.82, P = 0.009; adjusted HR 0.20, 95% CI 0.11–0.35, P<0.001).
