The findings of this study are supported by a study performed in Morocco, which reported a decreasing trend of parasitic infection. 36 However, this finding differed from a study conducted in Ethiopia, which revealed an increase. 31 The possible explanation could be that during the COVID-19 pandemic period, the worldwide community practiced handwashing more than ever, and this activity may be attributed to the decline in fecal oral transmission of pathogens, including parasites.
