Table 2 shows that after multivariate linear regression the association of the VEGF rs699947 polymorphism with the number of suicide attempts in the recessive model was close to significance ( Table 2 ; p -value = 0.076).
While this was very exciting, we have not found any association with depression risk, although suicide ideation was very close to significance in the multivariate model (variant genotypes β: +0.45, p = 0.076; Table 2 ), and it showed a p < 0.05 regarding the number of suicide attempts (AA carriers with almost double the suicide attempts; Figure S2R ).
