When both cognitive reflection and scientific literacy, which were strongly correlated ( r = 0.41, P < 0.001), were included in the same regression analysis, the interaction effect of scientific literacy was substantially reduced and nonsignificant ( B = −0.72, SE = 0.72, CI = [−2.19, 0.73], P = 0.326) whereas the interaction effect of cognitive reflection was modestly reduced and marginally significant ( B = −0.83, SE = 0.48, CI = [−1.77, 0.12], P = 0.086).
