The analyses were adjusted for key variables (sex, age, ethnicity, education level, employment, household income and history of cancer) as well as variables that were significantly different (or close to significance) between participants and non-participants in the Chi-square test (number of people living in a household, presence of hypertension, smoking history and study sub-district).
