Betalains exhibit antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of microbes including multidrug‐resistant bacteria, as well as single‐species and dual‐species biofilm‐producing bacteria, which is highly significant given the current antimicrobial resistance issue reported by The World Health Organization.
