Finally, to test whether performance in the partial offloading block differed as a function of the information chosen for offloading when the non-offloaded piece of information was tested (to explore the idea that some sorts of information may benefit memory for associated but not explicitly offloaded information more than others), we conducted a Welch’s t -test with approximate degrees of freedom and observed a marginally significant effect, t (59.191) = − 1.870, p = 0.067, with offloaded medication information only resulting in numerically better performance ( M med only = 0.426, SD med only = 0.496) than the medication + interaction combination ( M med + interaction = 0.250, SD med + interaction = 0.328).
