Similarly, in the two cases when there was a significant or marginally significant origin-by-sample type effect, transplanting the communities to a new environment tended to decrease alpha-diversity of nitrogen cycling genes for ammonia assimilation, denitrification, and dissimilatory nitrite to ammonia (Fig. 6B , Table 3 ).
