Participants in the no-reward and gamble groups followed the same trends as observed in the ratings for task enjoyment, whereas those in the reward group showed a decreasing trend as chance of success decreased: when the task became difficult (i.e., chance of success decreased), participants reported reduced anticipated emotional value for the task cue.
