One should note that the gamblers had marginally significant increased excitatory effective connectivity from the empathy network to the gambling network ( Pp = 0.88) but reduced inhibitory effective connectivity from the gambling network to the empathy network ( Pp = 0.91), which might contribute to higher activations within the gambling network.
