In our study, strong evidence was found in the GO enrichment analysis of plasma-derived and local wound proteins, revealing highly significant involvement in the biological processes of neutrophil, granulocyte, and leucocyte activation, mediation, and degranulation ( Figure 4 a), which confirms an infiltration of neutrophils and monocytes that respond to the pro-inflammatory stimuli at the implant surface.
