In a tolerant cassava (TME3), South African cassava mosaic virus (SACMV) infection downregulates 42% of the conserved miRNA families, with highly significant downregulation of miR167 that targets an auxin responsive factor, which plays a role in auxin signaling and adaptive responses to stress, suggesting the importance of auxin signaling in the recovery of SACMV-induced symptoms in TME3 [ 36 ].
