1 Recently, there has been an increasing trend toward the use of minimally invasive TLIF (MI-TLIF) owing to fewer morbidities, including lesser soft-tissue dissection, shorter hospital stays, and reduced blood loss compared to the traditional open approach. 2 - 5 Both the traditional open approach and MI-TLIF have helped achieve improved patient outcomes and have shown comparable fusion rates and number of complications. 6 , 7 The use of the interbody cage is a key element for the success of TLIF.
