Our results also showed that participants with diabetes had significantly lower adiponectin levels than did those with pre-diabetes (p<0.05), and that there was a decreasing trend of adiponectin levels in populations with normoglycaemia (4.0 (2.9–5.5) mg/L), pre-diabetes (3.7 (2.7–5.3) mg/L) and diabetes (3.2 (2.1–4.7) mg/L).
