mutans colony count (×10 5 CFU/mL of saliva) was 3.53 ± 0.11 at baseline, which was reduced to 3.09 ± 0.28 ( p = 0.0001*) at 1 month, it further reduced to 2.45 ± 0.27 ( p = 0.0001*) at 3 months, and 2.51 ± 0.75 ( p = 0.0001*) at 6 months this indicates a statistically highly significant reduction in S. mutans level.
