According to the Cochrane Handbook, the thresholds for interpreting the I 2 statistic are as follows: 0%–40%, probably not significant; 30%–60%, likely to reflect moderate heterogeneity; 50%–90%, likely to indicate significant heterogeneity; 75%–100%, representing considerable heterogeneity. 30 If the I value is below 50%, a fixed-effects model will be used; otherwise, a random-effects model will be used.
Other studies report correlations between socioeconomic status and DF, observing a relationship between higher income and being able to afford to buy toothpaste and other topical fluorides 16 , 28 , 29 , 32 . Among the statistically significant factors in the present study (p<0.05), the amount of toothpaste (pea-sized volume) used was associated with severity, though the use of more than a pea-sized volume did not present an association, but since its OR=12.52 was high, it was probably not significant because very few children used it (n=13).
Although gas compression of the laser-detonation source may affect the surface morphologies, it is probably not significant because the AO fluxes, (1.0–6.8) × 10 14 atoms/cm 2 /s (3.5×10 13 to 2.3×10 14 atoms/cm 2 /pulse) at the PE, PP, and PS positions, were lower than those reported by Riggs et al.
