A case–control study which included 787 cases and 721 controls residing for at least 6 months in the city of Cape Cod, USA, between 1988 and 1995, found a slightly higher breast cancer risk (OR = 1.2; 95% CI 0.80–1.60) in women who reported using any type of pesticide 10 times or more compared to those who never used the products, although this association did not reach statistical significance (Zota et al. 2010 ).
