A significant increase in the recovery of infectious virus (measured as the number of positive samples per group) was notable on VAT compared with VT for all samples (59.3% vs 47.3%; P = .0031) ( Figure 4 A ), as well as for samples with Ct values of more than 20 (45.3% vs 31.3%; P = .012) ( Figure 4 B ), but the difference did not reach statistical significance for samples with Ct values less than 20 ( Figure 4 C and Supplementary Table 3 ).
