In sub-analyses of each plexus, the FAZ area was significantly larger in the whole image analysis in patients recovered from COVID-19 (SMD=0.18, 95% CI=0.01–0.35, p = 0.04, I 2 =12%), while it was found to be larger in the SCP (SMD=0.45, 95% CI=−0.03–0.93, p = 0.06, I 2 =81%) and DCP (SMD=0.64, 95% CI=−0.16–1.44, p = 0.12, I 2 =88%), but the difference did not reach statistical significance ( Fig. 2 ). 3.2 Foveal avascular zone perimeter A total of 4 studies including 153 patients recovered from COVID-19 infection and 133 healthy controls were included in the analysis.
