The analysis of overall bleeding events (RR 0.57 [95% CI 0.32–1.02], p = 0.06 I 2 = 70%) and the subtypes of life-threatening or major bleeding (RR 0.39 [95% CI 0.11–1.37], p = 0.14, I 2 = 72%) and minor bleeding (RR 0.59 [95% CI 0.33–1.06], p = 0.08, I 2 = 0.0%) showed a trend but no significant difference between the plug-based and the suture-based techniques.
