Phase 1 study done by Sholler et.al showed that the SNP affecting ODC expression, specifically the rs2302616 SNP, was associated with increased polyamines, enhanced susceptibility to the ODC inhibitor DFMO, and subsequently increased responsiveness to DFMO-containing therapies in patients with neuroblastoma (although the association of genotype with EFS did not reach statistical significance) [ 40 ].
