23 In the TBCRC026 trial, decreased metabolic activity after 2 weeks of treatment was associated with DFS (HR = 0.36; 95% CI: 0.11–1.05; p = 0.06) and OS (HR = 0.14; 0.01–1.24; p = 0.01), although this did not reach statistical significance. 66 In conclusion, these results show that both baseline [ 18 F]FDG uptake as well as metabolic change on repeated [ 18 F]FDG during neoadjuvant therapy are correlated with long-term outcome measures after neoadjuvant therapy and may be of additional prognostic value to pCR.
