moderately significantp = 0.014
Spearman's correlation test showed a moderately significant negative association between the number of captured individuals and the water level in the lake (r s = − 0.486, n = 25, p = 0.014), indicating that the decline in the number of captured beetles could be correlated with the increased level of water in the lake; there was, however, no association between recaptured individuals and the level of water in the lake ( p > 0.05).
