A long-term curcumin carcinogenicity study by the National Toxicology Program (NTP) revealed that the incidence of malignant neoplastic lesions (carcinomas) did not reach statistical significance and the observed effects were not dose-dependent, were in agreement with historical control values, and were not consistent across sexes and/or species; these observations eliminated concerns of genotoxicity [ 107 ].
