19 Outcomes: all-cause mortality Two of the three studies that examined HR for all-cause mortality of fibromyalgia patients compared with patients from the same or a similar setting without fibromyalgia found an increased HR 18 20 ; in one study the difference did not reach statistical significance. 19 Of the four studies that calculated SMR, one found an increased mortality rate, 16 one found a decreased rate, 20 and two studies 17 19 showed no significant difference in mortality rates for fibromyalgia patients compared with a standardised population.
