2,3 A recent study found that the prevalence of HUA in most regions of China showed a significant trend of increase, with the overall prevalence increasing from 11.1% in 2015–2016 to 14% in 2018–2019. 4 In the United States, the prevalence of HUA in adult males and females is 21.2% and 21.6%, respectively. 5 It is reported that men since the age of 35 had a higher prevalence and incidence of gout compared to women. 6,7 Therefore, it is crucial and urgent for us to find effective therapies to prevent and treat HUA.
