In accordance with the overexposure to risk factors, the prevalence of non-fatal myocardial infarction and peripheral arterial disease was higher only in the group of participants who were unemployed for the longest time, even though the odds ratio did not reach statistical significance in the case of peripheral arterial disease due to the small number of events, after adjustment for sex, age, parental history of cardiovascular event, social position, work environment, current unemployment and risk factors ( Table 5 ).
