Sulodexide effectively restored the glycocalyx thickness and showed a trend towards normalization of systemic albumin clearance in a study of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, whereas no such effect was observed in two other studies ( Poplawska et al., 1997 ; Broekhuizen et al., 2010 ; Lewis et al., 2011 ; Packham et al., 2012 ; Rabelink et al., 2017 ).
