However, age at menarche has not been shown to be associated with the risk of in situ breast cancer [ 37 , 38 , 42 , 43 ] when included as a categorical variable, but one study found evidence of a significant trend in age at menarche and decreasing risk of developing in situ breast cancer [ 40 ].
