When we analyzed the immunosuppressive T cell populations, although FOXP3 + CD4 + cells were not different between the two groups, exhausted T cells (PD1 + CD8 + ) cells showed a strong trend towards being able to discriminate Group 1 from Group 2, Group 2 having a higher percentage of PD1 positive CD8 + T cells (Supplementary Fig. 10d–f).
