Levels of eotaxin, a key eosinophil chemoattractant, were evaluated at 3 days post–mSIS-ECM delivery before their recruitment in the noninfarct mouse model to assess the local regulation of eosinophil recruitment to the pericardial space At this timepoint, eotaxin analysis showed a trend for increased eotaxin concentrations in the pericardial fluid of the mSIS-ECM treatment group relative to the control group ( Supplemental Figure 3D ).
